O’Rourke Receives Outstanding House Legislator of the Year Award from Disabled American Veterans

WASHINGTON, DC — April 13, 2016 — Congressman Beto O’Rourke today received the Outstanding House Legislator of the Year award from the national veterans service organization, Disabled American Veterans (DAV). O’Rourke was chosen from among all 435 members of the House of Representatives for this award.

“Our work is inspired and guided by veterans and veterans service organizations like Disabled American Veterans. I am grateful for their help in pursuing bold reforms to ensure that all veterans get the care and help that they’ve earned through their service to our country,” O’Rourke said.

Garry Augustine, DAV Washington executive director, said “Since his election to Congress just a few years ago, Rep. O’Rourke has become a nationally-recognized leader on veterans’ issues, working in a principled and bipartisan manner to improve the lives of the men and women who served.

“Rep. O’Rourke’s efforts to reform the appeals process resulted in bipartisan legislation being approved in the House and also helped facilitate and accelerate a number of other initiatives to ensure that veterans receive all the benefits they have earned in a timely manner.”
