UTEP women’s golf posted a 54-hole total of 868, the second-lowest mark in program history, on the way to finishing fifth at The Clash at Boulder Creek on Tuesday.
Only the 2018-19 team has shot a better total over the course of 54 holes, compiling an 862 at the Pat Bradley Invitational from Oct. 21-23, 2018.
Two Miners tallied personal best tournament scores to lead the way, including Andrea Ostos with an even-par 216 (72, 71, 73) to tie for 13th and Daniela Chipchase a 2-over par 218 (74, 72, 72) to tie for 24th.
The tournament marks the second time in her career that Ostos has concluded a tournament as the top finisher for the Miners. Her 7-under par tally on par 5 holes this week tied for first among all participants.
Sophie Delfosse continued her strong season with a 217 (71, 71, 75) to tie for 20th. With a 219 (75, 71, 73), Marta Romeu Chen tied for 27th. Nawel Ben Letaief put together a 231 (85, 73, 73) and tied for 72nd.
Delfosse is averaging a 72.9 score per round this season, slashing nearly two strokes off her average from last year.
Chipchase and Romeu Chen each shot eagles during the tournament. On day one, Chipchase took just two shots to find the hole on the par 4 seventh while Romeu Chen did the same on the ninth hole in round two.
Nevada took home the team title with a 25-under par 839 to finish 16 strokes ahead of Long Beach State in second. Victoria Gailey of Nevada claimed the individual honors with a 9-under par 207.
Boulder Creek Golf Club (par 72, 6,309 yards) played host to the tournament.
With another strong effort this week, UTEP has now finished in the top-five in three of four events for the season. The Miners have shot rounds of 300 or lower in 10 of 12 rounds played this fall.
The Miners wrap up the fall slate on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Mercer Invitational in Macon, Ga.
