El Paso Parks and Recreation officials announced Thursday the unveiling of a new wrestling room at the Acosta Sports Center, located at 4321 Delta Drive.
Parks and Recreation staff renovated an old, unused racquetball room into a wrestling room for people of all ages. The room is equipped with wrestling mats and wall padding.
“The wrestling room gives residents another option to enjoy recreation activities,” city officials shared via an emailed release. “El Paso has a strong tradition in wrestling throughout the state on a high school level. This is an innovative way to provide girls and boys of all ages the opportunity to learn and understand the safety and recreational benefits of the sport of wrestling.”
In addition to public use, the wrestling room is available for rental and will be used to host wrestling classes and clinics.
The wrestling room is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a daily usage fee of $2 per hour for adults and $1 per hour for people under 18 years of age.
The monthly fee will be $15 for adults and $10 for participants under 18 years of age.
