Parks and Recreation Offers Lifeguard Training Courses in December

The Parks and Recreation Department is offering lifeguard training courses from December 21 to 24 at the O’Rourke Aquatics Center located at 901 North Virginia Street.

Parks and Rec officials say that a pre-requisite swim test will be given on the first day of the class.

Officials add that some of the pre-requisite skills needed include swimming continuously for 300 yards, treading water for two minutes and various completions of timed events deemed necessary by aquatics staff.

The classes will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday through Monday.

Each course is $217 per person. Discounts are available by calling (915) 212-0395.

For more information on the Lifeguard Training Courses, call the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department at (915) 212-0397 or visit their website.
