The Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Cigna Healthspring, are inviting the public to enjoy the Labor Day weekend with a Labor Day Festival and Concert in the heart of Downtown El Paso.
The festival – scheduled to run from noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, at San Jacinto Plaza – is free and open to the public and festival-goers are encouraged to arrive early and bring lawn chairs for the concerts.
The festival is an opportunity for families to enjoy San Jacinto Plaza and the outdoors with different forms of entertainment.
The festival will provide a variety of family-friendly activities including educational booths, health screenings, games for children and adults, a water dunking booth, jumping balloon, food trucks and vendors, as well as various live performances from local artists and performers.
Various organizations from across the city will also be on hand providing information about goods and services available to the community.
In addition, Cigna HealthSpring will have its mobile clinic at the festival from noon to 7 p.m. Health professionals and coaches will provide a variety of health screenings from glucose, diabetes, blood pressure, and cholesterol to body mass index and healthy living information. The screenings are free to every adult.
Live performances start at 4:30 p.m. with The Tributo al Divo de Juarez Concert followed by “Siluetas” Band, Armonia Choir, Alberto Luna, Ximena and other performers. Voz y Estilo will take the stage at 6 p.m. and “Hugo Cortez, La JG de Juárez” will perform at 8 p.m.
