The Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to a free tribute concert in honor of Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel on Saturday, August 28 at Cleveland Square Park.
The outdoor concert that pays homage to the late Juan Gabriel, features professional impersonator Aaron Palacios, starts at from 6 and runs through 11 p.m.
Palacios will pay tribute to the late pop icon in his very own voice and style. Visitors will have the opportunity to listen and enjoy countless songs that celebrate the life of El Divo de Juarez also known as Juanga.
The Mexican musical icon, who began his career in Juarez was a beloved top-selling singer who wooed crowds on both sides of the border with ballads of love and heartbreak for more than four decades. He died in 2016 at the age of 66.
The free concert is open to the public and includes additional entertainment from the following performers:
- 6 to 7 p.m. General Music
- 7 to 8:45 p.m. Siluetas Band
- 9 to 11 p.m. Aaron Palacios, Juan Gabriel Impersonator
Although the event is outdoors, masks are encouraged when not eating or drinking. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the show.
Organizers say the celebration includes food trucks that will be onsite, alcohol and grilling are not allowed.
