The Pebble Hills High School student council in the Socorro Independent School District has earned the 2021 National Gold Council of Excellence award from the National Student Council.
The student council won the recognition for its exemplary record of leadership, service and activities that serve to improve the school and community.
“It has been tremendous to see our students persevere through this year’s challenges and continue striving to achieve greatness for their campus and community,” said Pebble Hills High School student council adviser Emily Jo Cancellare. “It is an honor to be regarded as a National Gold Council of Excellence.”
The Pebble Hills student council was successful in meeting various criteria for the award, including having a written constitution, regular meetings, a democratic election process and demonstrating effective sponsorship and participation in activities, such as leadership development and service to the school and community.
Councils awarded the gold level of the award have successfully demonstrated the highest levels of leadership.
“Congratulations to our outstanding student council,” said Pebble Hills High School principal Ignacio Estorga, Ed.D. “During this unprecedented time, our amazing student council has dedicated their time and effort to Pebble Hills High School. I am extremely proud of them.”
