With the sun setting upon Sun Bowl Stadium, the Sun Bowl Association hosted the Peter Piper Pizza Sun Bowl Punt, Pass & Kick on Tuesday, Oct. 11 with children from the ages of 6-15 competing for some great prizes.
The free event featured five separate age divisions for both girls and boys to compete in. Each contestant took to the field to punt, pass and place kick a football. After the competition completed, the scores were totaled with Sun Bowl Association handing out first, second and third place medals to the top three finishers in each of the boys’ and girls’ divisions.
The first-place finisher in each of the boys’ and girls’ division will be featured at the Glasheen, Valles and Inderman Sun Bowl Parade on Nov. 24, 2022. Those first-place finishers also received two tickets to the 89th Annual Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and will be recognized at the game on Dec. 30, 2022 at Noon (MT).
“We’d like to thank Peter Piper Pizza for their wonderful partnership with this event,” Executive Director Bernie Olivas said. “Because of Peter Piper Pizza we are able to host this youth event in Sun Bowl Stadium, distribute some really nice medals and award the winners with tickets to the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl game.”
All participants also received a free t-shirt and a water bottle courtesy of Peter Piper Pizza.
The winners, who will be riding on the float and attending the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, are: Cristiano Padilla (boys 6/7), Dominic Perez (boys 8/9), Ricky Middaugh (boys 10/11) Robert Torres (boys 12/13), Dante Lewis (boys 14/15), Natalia Hernandez (girls 6/7), Jenna Middaugh (girls 8/9), Natalia Zugasti (girls 10/11), Aaliyah Russell (girls 12/13), Amberly Mercado (girls 14/15).
