It was another beautiful evening in Sun Bowl Stadium as the Sun Bowl Association hosted the Peter Piper Pizza Sun Bowl Punt, Pass & Kick on Wednesday, Oct. 20 with children from the ages of 6-15 competing for some great prizes.
The free event had girls and boys in five separate age divisions compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking. After the competition completed, the scores were totaled and the Sun Bowl Association handed out first, second and third place medals to the top three finishers in each of the boys’ and girls’ divisions from the five age brackets.
The first-place finisher in each of the boys’ and girls’ division from the five age brackets will be featured at the Sun Bowl Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 25, 2021. Those first-place finishers also received two tickets to the 88th Annual Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and will be recognized at the game on Dec. 31, 2021 at 10 a.m. (MT).
“We’d like to thank Peter Piper Pizza for their wonderful partnership with this event,” Executive Director Bernie Olivas said. “Because of Peter Piper Pizza we are able to host this youth event in Sun Bowl Stadium, distribute some really nice medals and award the winners with tickets to the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl game.”
All participants also received a free t-shirt and a water bottle courtesy of Peter Piper Pizza.
The winners, who will be riding on the float and attending the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, are: Maximus Cervantes (boys 6/7), Adyn Orona (boys 8/9), Ryan Boyie (boys 10/11), Ivan Cervantes (boys 12/13), Robert Garcia (boys 14/15), Jenna Midaugh (girls 6/7), Carly Carrasco (girls 8/9), Itzel Ontiveros (girls 10/11).
The community can give congratulations to the winners on Thanksgiving morning during the Glasheen, Valles and Inderman Injury Lawyers Sun Bowl Parade on Montana Ave. at 10 a.m. (MT) and again at the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on Friday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. (MT).
