The El Paso Pro-Musica Season is Back for 2021-2022
El Paso Pro-Musica is back with In-Person Concert for the 2021-2022 Season. Artistic Director Zuill Bailey is working alongside musical artists from around the world, ready to return to El Paso, following difficult times during the Global Pandemic.
“El Paso Pro-Musica is thrilled to present such wonderful artists and fabulous friends of El Paso and the region as we return to “In-Person,” performances. It has been a difficult year for artists everywhere and we are thrilled to be back on stage in El Paso,” says Zuill Bailey, who is celebrating his 20th year as Artistic Director of El Paso Pro-Musica.
Pianist Richard Dowling performs Chopin, Gershwin, Scott Joplin and Holiday Classics in a Concert on Tuesday, December 7 at UTEP’s Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall. Dowling will kick off the excitement leading up to the 2022 EPPM Chamber Music Festival that was held virtually in 2021.
The Festival begins with an “EPPM 100,” event, celebrating Zuill Bailey’s 20th Anniversary as Artistic Director. “Bach and More,” will round out the performance at “The Manor at 1011.”
The innovative chamber ensemble, Camarata del Sol, based in Las Cruces, will perform Latin American favorites in Concerts in El Paso and Las Cruces, and violinist Kurt Nikkanen and pianist Maria Asteriadou, will perform and conduct an education residency in the region in January. The annual collaboration with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra continues with Zuill Bailey and violinist Helen Kim performing the passionate Brahms Double Concerto.
“Bach’s Lunch,” the Free Noon Concerts held every Thursday in January, returns to the El Paso Museum of Art.
The El Paso Pro-Musica Main Series Concerts, brings Jazz to El Paso, as pianist Matt Herskowitz presents eclectic evenings of Jazz to El Paso and Las Cruces on March 29-30. The Season comes to an exciting close with Awadagin Pratt and Zuill Bailey performing together on Wednesday, April 20 at First Baptist Church.
The duo performed together at the Church for the first time in El Paso in 2002, marking Zuill Bailey’s First Concert as Artistic Director.
