Local nonprofit and supporting organization of the El Paso Community Foundation, Progress321, launches an expat initiative to connect El Paso expat leaders to the community in an effort to engage expats with regional leaders to enhance the region with homegrown talent.
Progress321, with partnership support from Microsoft and the El Paso Electric Company, is organizing El Paso Everywhere, September 15 – 19, 2021.
This event is an opportunity for expats to return home and tour the economic development opportunities first hand and engage with local leaders. This will be the second year El Paso Everywhere will be taking place since 2019.
The inaugural class had 19 participants that included notable El Pasoans such as Karla Martinez, editor of Vogue Magazine in Mexico, Jessica Meraz, actress, Alex Franco, Austin radio personality, Olivia Troye, former Homeland Security & Counterterrorism Advisor to VP Pence to name a few.
“El Paso is becoming the city I always dreamed it could be. Being an EPE alumna has ignited my passion for contributing to my hometown while living elsewhere. El Paso made me the chingona I am, so I’m elated to invest my time and energy in the Sun City as it continues to innovate, grow and prosper. Adelante!” shared Jennifer W. Sanchez, MPA, Intel, now living in Chandler, Arizona; and El Paso Everywhere Attendee Class I.
Applications are now open for El Paso Everywhere Class II, and Progress321 is expanding the class size to 50 participants. Applications will be open until July 15 and can be filled out at elpasoeverywhere.com.
With the increase of remote workers, Progress321 is encouraging expats to consider the Paso del Norte region as an opportunity to expand their business, give back to the community, or be invested in the economic development through the Progress321 Expat Membership.
An expat can be defined as someone who grew up in El Paso, Juarez, or Las Cruces and considers the region their ‘home’, who now lives and works outside the region. We understand that in a remote world some expats are back home temporarily and they too are considered an expat.
Part of this weekend will be Progress321’s signature event, One Region One Table, which will be in its 6th year and features an alfresco dinner in Downtown El Paso with five courses paired with wine and prepared by notable regional and expat chefs. This event is taking place on September 18, 2021 at 6pm.
Tickets will go on sale in July. For more information, visit the website by clicking here.
