Public invited to comment on TxDOT’s Transportation Plan

Members of the public are invited to comment on the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Unified Transportation Plan (UTP).

“The Unified Transportation Program (UTP) is TxDOT’s ten-year programming document to authorize and guide transportation project development and construction on Texas’ intermodal transportation network,” TxDOT officials say. “It is updated, and adopted by the Texas Transportation Commission annually.”

One virtual public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 7 and a virtual public hearing is scheduled for Monday, August 2, each starting at 2 p.m. MST.

TxDOT has been working with its transportation partners to identify projects to be included in the 2022 UTP. Public comments and feedback are very important in developing the plan.

“The UTP includes funding strategies and projects to maintain and preserve the existing transportation system and taxpayer investments,” TxDOT officials added.

“The UTP also includes funding strategies and projects to construct transportation infrastructure. The UTP is neither a budget nor a guarantee that projects will or can be built. However, it is a critical tool in guiding transportation project development within the long-term planning context.”

The 2022 UTP public comment period is planned to begin on July 9, 2021 and continue through 4:00 p.m. CST on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021.

A recording of each livestream meeting and a copy of each slide presentation will be available here after the public meeting and hearing.

Links will be available online along with participant passcodes for a dial-in option via this webpage.
