Rainiers survive Chihuahuas’ Late Rally, Win 3-1

The El Paso Chihuahuas brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday afternoon but lost to the Tacoma Rainiers 3-1. The Rainiers have now defeated the Chihuahuas in all five meetings between the two teams this season.

The Rainiers added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to go ahead 3-0.

Jason Hagerty’s two-out RBI double put the Chihuahuas on the board in the eighth inning. Carlos Asuaje hit a triple in the bottom of the ninth but was left on base as Tacoma hurler Blake Parker closed the game.

Righties Leonel Campos and Derek Eitel pitched scoreless outings in relief for El Paso. Catcher Austin Hedges caught two Rainiers trying to steal Wednesday.
