Redbirds Roll Past Chihuahuas 10-1

Luke Weaver pitched seven innings and allowed one run in the Memphis Redbirds’ 10-1 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Saturday night at AutoZone Park in Memphis. Weaver has thrown 22 innings this season and has let up only one run.

The Redbirds scored once in the first and four times in the second to build up an early lead against Dinelson Lamet. Trailing 7-0 in the fifth, Chihuahuas catcher Rocky Gale lifted a solo home run over the left field wall, his first homer of the season.

El Paso relievers Christian Bethancourt and Keith Hessler both tossed scoreless outings in the loss.

All nine starting Redbirds reached base at least once on a hit or a hit by pitch. Memphis has won 13 of its last 15 games.
