The Upper Rio Grande Regional Flood Planning Group is holding a meeting from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 8, 2022, at the EPISD Administration Building, 1014 N. Stanton St., to present proposed flood planning maps for the region.
The group will present findings from previous meetings that provided input from the public on the areas most affected by flooding in Region 14, which includes El Paso County and 22 other counties in West Texas, and how those issues could be addressed.
Â
The maps will include flood mitigation projects, strategies and priorities that will ultimately be included in the 2023 State Flood Plan. Going forward, only the projects listed in the 2023 State Flood Plan are eligible for funding support through the Texas Water Development Board’s Flood Infrastructure Fund.
Â
No formal presentation will be given at this open house-style meeting. It is an opportunity for the public to review exhibits. This meeting will be the last open house meeting prior to the release of the Draft Regional Flood Plan document later this fall and all members of the public are strongly encouraged to attend.
