Rhinos, NA3HL set to take to the ice October 2nd

Officials with the  North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) announced that the 2020-21 regular season, which will be the league’s 11th season, will begin on October 2, 2020.

The league is committed to playing a full schedule of regular season games and the 2020-21 schedule is expected to be released by September 1st.

“We are excited to be moving forward with a return to play date. Our number one priority remains returning to the ice this fall in the safest manner possible for everyone in our hockey community and we believe that October 2nd is a realistic date to achieve that goal,” said NA3HL Commissioner Blake Macnicol. “We will be closely following and monitoring the situation with the NAHL and with our hockey partners to develop the most current return to play guidelines as possible.”

The NA3HL will continue to work daily with teams to monitor the situation in all 32 NA3HL communities, utilizing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local authorities.

The NA3HL and its member clubs want to ensure that they are utilizing the latest information available in order to provide the safest environment as possible for all of the players, coaches, staff, billet families and fans.

However, the delayed start will not affect the three NA3HL events planned for the 2020-21 season. The 11th annual NA3HL Showcase will take place from December 20-22, 2020, at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.

The 2021 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament will take place on February 8-9, 2021, at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and the 2021 NA3HL Fraser Cup Championship will take place from March 31-April 4 in Chicago, Illinois.

During the 2019-20 season, the NA3HL experience another record-breaking season of player advancement.

The NA3HL not only saw 55 of its players tendered or drafted by NAHL teams, but over 50 NA3HL alumni played in the NAHL this past season. The NA3HL also saw six of its former players, who went onto play in the NAHL, make NCAA Division 1 commitments this past season.

The NA3HL also continues to make its mark and is one of the leaders in junior hockey with the advancement of players onto the NCAA. So far in 2020, the NA3HL has over 120+ college commitments, with almost 75% of those being NCAA commitments.

In addition, over 300 former NA3HL players are currently playing in the NCAA, and 17% of NCAA Division III freshmen this season previously played in the NA3HL.
