The El Paso Rhinos, Vitalant, and the El Paso Sports Commission have teamed up to host a blood drive on June 13 at the El Paso County Coliseum.
Officials share that while blood donation is always essential, the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically increased the need for all types of blood.
Understanding the gravity of this global health crisis, the Rhinos jumped at the opportunity to contribute in any way possible.
“We are passionate about helping our community and right now, one of the ways that we can help is by encouraging blood donation,” Rhino Head Coach Cory Herman says. “There’s a dire need for blood, and we’re hoping that by co-hosting this blood drive we can aid in getting El Pasoans to donate.”
Additionally, blood banks in El Paso are seeking plasma from recovered COVID19 patients as it may help save the lives others who have more severe cases.
The Blood Drive will be held on June 13 from 1 pm to 6 pm at the El Paso County Coliseum, locoated at 4100 East Paisano. Appointments must be made in advance by visiting bloodhero.com or calling 915-544-5422.
To help maintain social distancing, all attendees will remain 6 feet apart, donors and staff members will be required to wear masks, and all equipment will be thoroughly sanitized between donors.
All individuals who donate blood will receive Rhino tickets for the 2020-21 season and have a chance to win Rhino jerseys and other merchandise.
