Sheriff Richard D. Wiles has been recognized as a Top 10 Rising LoneStar for the month of April, officials with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) shared Tuesday.
According to Rising LoneStar, Sheriff Wiles was recognized for establishing the Crisis Intervention Unit within the Sheriff’s Office.
The Crisis Intervention Unit responds to incidents involving a mental health crisis and they are trained to recognize mental illness, to enhance their verbal crisis de-escalation skills, and to provide a more streamlined access to community-based mental health services.
According to their website, Rising LoneStars is “committed to tracking Texas’ rising up-and-coming political leaders and providing quality information such as campaign finance documentation, salaries, and more.”
