El Paso let a late five-run lead slip away Saturday, as the Round Rock Express came back to beat the Chihuahuas 13-11 at Southwest University Park.
The Chihuahuas led 10-5 when Round Rock scored four times in the seventh, three times in the eighth and once more in the ninth.
The Express have won two of the first three games of the series and have a chance to give El Paso its first series loss since the club’s first road trip of the season.
The Chihuahuas trailed 5-2 when they sent 12 batters to the plate in an eight-run bottom of the fifth inning. El Paso’s offense continues to thrive, with 15 hits in Saturday’s loss. The Chihuahuas’ batting average is .321 and the team has nine hits or more in every game this month. Alex Dickerson went 2-for-5 with an RBI to extend his club-record hitting streak to 19 games.
Nick Noonan hit his 12th double of the season Saturday and now has doubles in seven consecutive games.
El Paso and Round Rock have combined for 48 runs and 68 hits over the last two games.
