Salt Lake Bees Sting Chihuahuas 13-5

The El Paso Chihuahuas had multiple early leads but the Salt Lake Bees scored in seven of its eight innings and came back multiple times to win 13-5 Thursday.

Rafael Ortega led off the game with a home run, becoming the first Chihuahua to do so since Manuel Margot on August 4, 2016 versus Tacoma. Ortega reached base four times Thursday with two hits and two walks. Jose Pirela and Nick Buss also collected two hits each for El Paso.

Zach Lee pitched four innings in his Chihuahuas debut, allowing four earned runs on six hits. Padres pitcher Carter Capps surrendered five runs on three hits in one third of an inning in his fifth MLB injury rehab appearance with El Paso.

Two days after being outrighted from San Diego, catcher/pitcher Christian Bethancourt allowed one hit and no runs in two thirds of an inning.

It was the first matchup of the year between the Bees and Chihuahuas.
