Salt Lake Scores Late to Sting Chihuahuas 4-3; Dog’s Lead Drops to 2.5 Games
The Salt Lake Bees scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 4-3 in walk-off fashion Monday.
Salt Lake’s win moved the second place Bees to 2.5 games behind the first place Chihuahuas with two games remaining in the head-to-head series.
El Paso starter Jerry Keel matched his season high by pitching 7.1 innings Monday. He allowed only two runs but did not factor in the decision.
Luis Urias went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, including a game-tying sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth. Chihuahuas’ catcher Francisco Mejia went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead home run in the top of the eighth.
Five of the last six Chihuahuas games have been decided by one run.
