San Elizario ISD announces new Assistant Principals

Officials with San Elizario ISD recently announced two new assistant principals for the district: Ana Solis will serve at San Elizario High School and Sandra Rico will serve at Sambrano Elementary School.

Both educators were recommended by Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez and approved by the San Elizario ISD Board of Trustees.

Rico began her educational experience 15 years ago as an elementary teacher at Johnson Elementary School in the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD).  Her experience as a teacher includes serving as a dual language teacher at Crockett Elementary School in EPISD.

Other service includes her work as an Active Learning Leader and most recently as the Instructional Officer for Bilingual Education in the San Elizario ISD.

Rico holds a Bachelor’s of Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership.

“Mrs. Rico comes with an extensive Early Childhood background having taught Kindergarten through second grade for 11 years.  She will be a true asset to our K-2nd graders at Sambrano Elementary,” Principal Ernesto Seigel states.

Solis started her educational experience as resources teacher at Blanton Elementary School in the Austin Independent School District (AISD).  She also served as a PPCD Teacher in the Grapevine Consolidated Independent School District (GCISD) and subsequently a Lead PPCD Teacher in EPISD in the Special Education Department.

Solis’ service also includes serving as an Instructional Support Specialist, a Summer Curriculum Writer, and a Special Education Instructional Coach at Bowie High School in EPISD.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and a Master in Education in Curriculum & Instruction also from UTA.

“We are very excited to have Ms. Ana Solis join the SEHS family; she brings a wealth of knowledge and has a background in instructional coaching and special education,” Principal Marioni stated. We know she will support classroom teachers and have a positive impact on student learning.”
