DALLAS – A school-record 202 UTEP student-athletes have secured a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, the league office revealed Wednesday.
“I am absolutely thrilled to see the increase in student-athlete recognition for C-USA awards,” UTEP Director of Athletics Jim Senter said. “This is a tribute to our student-athletes’ hard work and commitment to academic success. Our coaching staff and the MAAC (Miner Athlete Academic Center) also deserve credit for helping our student-athletes achieve at a high level.”
School officials say the effort obliterates the university’s prior standard (174), which had been set during the 2019-20 scholastic year.
Additionally, it marks the third straight year that UTEP student-athletes have broken the record.
Student-athletes named to the list have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
