Sheriff Wiles, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Renewed for Region VIII Academy

Sheriff Richard Wiles and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received the renewal certification for the Region VIII Training Academy from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

The renewal certification will allow the Region VIII Training Academy to continue to provide training to Sheriff’s Office employees, and other area law enforcement agencies until March 31st, 2021.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Training Academy provides training and education to law enforcement and corrections for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the region of far West Texas. This includes the counties of El Paso, Hudspeth, Culberson, Brewster, Jeff Davis and Presidio.

The academy currently provides training for over 2,500 federal, state, and local law enforcement professionals.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Training Academy is a Veterans’ Administration approved school.  Students attending basic licensing courses at the academy are eligible for Veterans Educational Benefits.  The Training Academy maintains an active articulation agreement with El Paso Community College.
