On Saturday, November 26, the Downtown Art and Farmers Market will host “Shop Small Saturday” where market visitors can find unique handmade holiday gifts from the region’s most talented artists and craftsman.
Anthony Street in the Union Plaza Entertainment District will be filled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with many gift options from artwork and decorative crafts to handmade scarves and other accessories. Vendors will be taking orders for holiday treats and deserts in the market food cottage.
Shoppers will be treated to live bluegrass and jazz, and there will be free arts and crafts activities for children. Visitors can stop by one of the eight food trucks in the food truck garden to sample specialty cuisine and beverages.
Market vendors will also have free Shop Small and Market bags while supplies last.
“El Paso has so many talented artists and delicious local foods. Our market is a great place to find something unique for the special people in your life and support small local businesses in our community,” said Downtown Art and Farmers Market Coordinator Valerie Venecia.
Shop Small Saturday started in New England in 2010 as a counter movement to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Shop Small Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to visit brick and mortar businesses that are small and local.
The Downtown Art and Farmers Market opened in 2011 to create a market place for local artists and craftsman.
