Silicon Valley-Based Start-Up Curacubby Finds a Home in El Paso

Wednesday morning, officials with the Borderplex Alliance, the City of El Paso, and the County of El Paso announced that Curacubby, a fin-tech start up based out of Silicon Valley is opening an office in downtown El Paso.

Steven Khuong, Founder and CEO of Curacubby, said, “When we first visited El Paso we knew this is the place we needed to be. Downtown is happening and this community is on the (way) up. We’re excited to be a part of this community and want to thank the Borderplex Alliance, and the City and County of El Paso for being great partners and helping us set up shop. We’re hiring and ready to open our doors very soon, so if you want to join our team please contact us.”

This is the second Silicon Valley based start-up company to open an office in El Paso this year.

Ruben John Vogt, El Paso County Judge, said, “Curacubby is in the business of making life easier for families, and it can’t get better than that. They are the second tech company from Silicon Valley in the last year to select El Paso for their business expansion and proves yet again that our efforts to build our economic brand/competitiveness are proving successful. Having them join our community adds to the diversity of our economic portfolio, will be key to our continued economic growth and their selection to expand in downtown El Paso adds to our revitalization efforts.”

Formed in 2016 in an effort to transform the way schools and childcare centers handle billing, payments, registration and record-keeping. Curacubby is a complete online school management system that handles enrollment, billing and payment processing, and revenue growth. The company is hiring for a variety of positions including software developers.

Dee Margo, Mayor, City of El Paso, said, “Curacubby’s interest in El Paso shows that our regional economic development strategy is working. Downtown El Paso is becoming the location for Silicon Valley technology companies to flourish. I look forward to next week’s City Council meeting to hear more about this opportunity.”

Jon Barela, CEO, The Borderplex Alliance, said, “Young, ambitious, talented, entrepreneurs are choosing the Borderplex to do business. We’re at the start of a something special. This feels like the seeds of a tech boom in downtown El Paso. We’re excited to welcome Curacubby and can’t wait to see how they grow and find success here.
