The Socorro Independent School District will host its first-ever Regional Health Professions Academy Competition March 4-5 in the Socorro High School auditorium.
“I am very proud that our students are competing in an event of this magnitude,” said Oscar Martinez, HPA instructor at Socorro High School. “I anticipate our students will do very well.”
More than 700 health-science students from Amarillo, Lubbock and El Paso are expected to attend, 300 of which are Socorro High School students.
The young health care professionals will display their research efforts and compete in different skill level areas, such as laboratory, pharmaceutical skills and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
The two-day competition will begin at 1 p.m. March 4. The award ceremony will be at 3 p.m. March 5.
