Socorro Independent School District military-connected parents will learn about the district’s programs and resources available to their children and topics of interest at the second annual Military Family Conference on April 1.
District administrators will present information on the Military Compact, the district’s Purple Star designated campuses, services for students with special needs and resources available for social/emotional/mental health.
Parents will learn about SISD’s college and career readiness opportunities for students and adult community education.
SISD also proudly welcomes Fort Bliss Garrison Commander Col. Jim Brady who will attend and give remarks to parents during the opening session of the event.
“The conference is a wonderful event for military-connected parents to learn about the many opportunities available to students at Socorro ISD,” said Carmen Olivas-Graham, Director of Administrative Services. “It also is a great way for parents to meet and get to know other military-connected families.”
District officials also will be available to discuss the SISD Volunteer Sports Program, robotics programs, Dual Language Academy, Military Family Life Counseling Services, and job opportunities in the district. Childcare, breakfast, and lunch will be provided along with entertainment from SISD mariachis.
SISD currently serves 6,555 students that are connected to the military in schools throughout the district.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2023 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. @ District Service Center 12440 Rojas Dr.
