SISD, Workforce Solutions Borderplex to have virtual 2021 Job Con for high school students
The Socorro Independent School District, in partnership with Workforce Solutions Borderplex, invites 10th through 12th grade SISD students who are in financial literacy and career preparation classes to the virtual 2021 Job Con next week.
“This event will provide our SISD students an opportunity of career exploration,” said SISD CTE business and industry coordinator Brenda Gonzalez.
“It will highlight why and how core courses in Career and Technical Education pathways contribute to the foundation of knowledge needed to be successful in various careers.”
The event – scheduled for May 5th, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – will feature employers from some of the best and exciting industries in the area.
District officials share that students will be able to have one on one conversations with employers, learn about exciting career paths, and get advice on how to take the necessary steps toward their dream job after high school.
“Students will learn what is required of them to succeed in their desired career path, such as what certifications are needed or other skills and education,” SISD officials added.
“The Job Con also will give them insight on apprenticeships and internships opportunities that are available in the region.”
