Cactus Trails Elementary teacher and Socorro Independent School District 2021 Elementary Teacher of the Year Kelsey Anderson was named the 2022 ESC Region 19 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
“Every single person in this beautiful profession is a Teacher of the Year in my book,” Anderson said. “We do things on a daily basis to ensure every child feels loved and happy, and I am beyond excited to represent our amazing region and all of the hard-working educational rock stars!”
Anderson is a third-grade teacher and has been teaching for nine years. Anderson said she is blessed and humbled to be an educator and is honored to represent Team ISD, and now the entire region.
This is the fifth consecutive year that a Socorro ISD Teacher of the Year has won the prestigious Region 19 title.
SISD Interim Superintendent Marta Carmona, M.Ed. cheered on Anderson in a Tweet following the announcement.
“Congratulations Kelsey Anderson for being named @ESCRegion19 2022 Elementary Teacher of the Year!” Carmona said. “We applaud you for celebrating the uniqueness of each child and inspiring them to become what they are meant to become in life. Well done! #Team SISD is the place to be!”
Anderson’s colleagues from around the district and administrators congratulated her via social media touting her dedication and merit.
“A huge Diamondback rattle for Mrs. Anderson, Region 19 TOY!” said Leslie Thomas, principal of Cactus Trails Elementary School. “Well deserved honor and recognition for such an outstanding educator!”
SISD’s 2021 Secondary Teacher of the Year Donna Siañez earned second place in the secondary category of the ESC Region 19 2022 Teacher of the Year award program.
Siañez is a professional communications teacher at El Dorado High School and has been an educator for 23 years.
