SISD’s Ensor Middle leader wins Region 19 Middle School Principal of the Year Award

Col. John O. Ensor Middle School Principal Lisa Estrada-Batson was named the 2019-2020 Region 19 Middle School Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.

TASSP recognizes principals and assistant principals for exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.

“Receiving the 2019 Region 19 Middle School Principal of the Year Award is a heartfelt and humbling honor,” Estrada-Batson said. “A recognition of this capacity involves so many committed people beginning with our wonderful students, dedicated teachers, caring parents, outstanding SISD administrators and generous community partnerships.”

Estrada-Batson became the principal of Col. John O. Ensor Middle School in 2017.

Her commitment to high achievement and student success earned Ensor notable honors at the state level, including the 2019 Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll designation, a coveted 2019 TEA “A” rating, and six distinction designations for academics.

“Our goal as educators is to help students succeed,” she said. “We dedicate ourselves to make their educational journey meaningful and memorable.”

Estrada holds a Bachelor in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She is a member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis International, and the ADK Gamma Pi Women’s Altruistic Sorority.

Estrada-Batson was nominated for the award by fellow TASSP members. As a Region 19 winner, she will compete for the Texas Principal of the Year honor June 9 in Dallas.
