Sky Sox stymie Chihuahuas again 5 to 1

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the El Paso Chihuahuas 5-1 Monday, winning their second straight game at Southwest University Park. Sky Sox starter Brent Suter tossed six shutout innings for his third Triple-A win.

Colorado Springs third baseman Matt Dominguez clubbed a two-run home run in the top of the second and the 2-0 score held until the seventh, when Will Middlebrooks hit an RBI double to get El Paso within one. The Sky Sox opened it up in the top of the ninth by scoring three runs on four hits.

After El Paso brought home seven runs or more in four of its five most recent road games, the Chihuahuas’ offense has been held to only three total runs in the first two games of the home series versus Colorado Springs.

Nick Vincent and Dale Thayer each tossed scoreless relief outings for El Paso Monday.
