Socorro Independent School District principals, assistant principals, and counselors will participate in a districtwide call-out Annual Walk for Success event to invite students back to school so they can graduate.
“It is imperative that we reach out to all students who are not in school and encourage them to come back,” said SISD Interim Superintendent Marta Carmona, M.Ed. “The Socorro ISD family is here for our students, and we want them to know that we will do everything possible to get them back on track and ultimately to the milestone goal of graduation.”
The SISD educators will be set up in the board room to make phone calls and personally reach out to students who have not re-enrolled in school.
The call-out is part of SISD’s annual outreach program, Walk for Success, which has recovered more than 350 students and helped dozens graduate.
During the call-out, district staff will offer students, and/or their parents, guidance and resources so they can re-enroll and continue their journey to earn a high school diploma.
In the next phase of Socorro ISD’s student recovery outreach in September, administrators and counselors will visit students’ homes in the district’s neighborhoods to make personal contact with students who still need to be reached and their parents.
