More than 300 students from grades ninth to 12th and 35 plus judges will participate in the district’s annual High School Science and Engineering Fair. Parents, teachers, principals and fair administrators also will be at the event.
“Students are challenged with interpreting data, inferencing, and drawing conclusions from information. The projects allow students to develop these skills through genuine, independent research,” said Stephanie Carrasco, Instructional Officer – Secondary Science for Academic Services.
Students will present the projects they’ve spent weeks working on to district judges, giving formal explanations and answering questions on their work.
The projects will represent more than 22 different categories, including Plant Sciences, Microbiology, Physics and Astronomy, Mathematics, Robotics and Intelligent Machines, Engineering Mechanics and Biomedical.
First and second place winners will advance to the Sun Country Regional Science & Engineering Fair. This year, the regional fair will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 at Pebble Hills High School.
