The Socorro Independent School District announced Monday that they will host their annual Dual Language Academy Parent Information Nights virtually March 24, 25, and 30 via Zoom.
The yearly event is for parents that are interested in their child being part of the Socorro ISD Dual Language Academy.
The program is currently available at two campuses: Myrtle Cooper and Dr. Sue A. Shook elementary schools.
Applications for the dual language program are being accepted for incoming 4-year-old Pre-K students. Incoming kindergarten and first-grade students also can apply and be added to the current wait list for the program.
The enrollment process for the academy is based on various criteria and a lottery system.
“In the SISD Dual Language Academy, students will become bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish through rigorous instruction and multicultural experiences,” Socorro ISD officials shared. “The academy provides dual language students the resources necessary to be academically, socially and linguistically successful in both English and Spanish to become globally competitive citizens.”
