Socorro ISD names community member to fill vacant board trustee position

Officials with the Socorro Independent School District announced Wednesday that the Board of Trustees named community member Michael A. Najera to fill a vacant at-large trustee seat on the district’s school board.

Najera previously served on the SISD Board of Trustees from 2009 to 2019. He is the Executive Director of Client Transformation at Change Healthcare, a provider of revenue and payment cycle management and clinical information exchange solutions in the U.S. healthcare system.

He has over 25 years of healthcare finance and operations experience and has an undergraduate degree in accounting and an MBA.  District officials shared the following bio of Najera.

A district parent and volunteer, Najera has been heavily involved with Socorro ISD since 2004. When not working or volunteering, Najera enjoys spending time with Gabby Gonzalez who first stole his heart in elementary. They will soon celebrate their seven-year anniversary. He has three daughters: Crystal, who attends Eastlake High School; Amber, who is a graduate of Eastlake High School and attends UTEP; and Leah, who is a graduate of Americas High School and has attended El Paso Community College.

The SISD Board of Trustees named Najera during a special board meeting on May 4, 2021 after reviewing candidate applications from the community.  He will fill the vacated seat and complete the term of the position.
