The Socorro Independent School District’s Community Education department will be offering free workforce training certifications classes for adult ESL students.
Adult students who meet eligibility requirements, reside in Texas, and who are at least 18 years of age may be eligible for the vocational certifications and basic skill courses, which include security officer, computer technician, general office specialist, electrician certification, and hotel/hospitality certification.
Classes will begin soon at four SISD campuses. Candidates interested in participating must schedule an appointment with the SISD Community Education department at (915) 937-1713 to attend an information session.
Course placement is limited. All candidates must complete the registration process to be eligible to take a course. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive access to the certification exam.
The following classes will be offered from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday:
Computer maintenance: El Dorado High School, 12401 Edgemere
Security officer: Socorro High School, 10150 Alameda Ave.
Electrician certification: Montwood High School, 12000 Montwood Dr.
The following classes will be offered from noon to 2:30 p.m. (daytime class) or 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (evening class) Monday through Thursday (one or both class times will be offered depending on enrollment):
General office specialist: Options High School, 12380 Pine Springs
Hotel/Hospitality certification: Options High School, 12380 Pine Springs
