Socorro ISD Offers Free Workforce Classes to Adult ESL Students

The Socorro Independent School District’s Community Education department will be offering free workforce training certification classes to adult English as a Second Language (ESL) students from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, beginning Aug. 8 at three SISD campuses.

Adult ESL students who reside in Texas and are at least 18 years of age are eligible for the vocational certifications and basic skill courses being offered, which include security officer, computer technician, HVAC technician or general office specialist with Microsoft Office software certification.

Candidates interested in participating must schedule an appointment with the SISD Community Education department at (915) 937-1700 to attend an information session on July 27. Course placement is limited.

All candidates must complete the registration process to be eligible to take a course, which includes a formal assessment. It is preferred that candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive access to the certification exam.
