Socorro ISD Online Registration is 80% Complete in only Five Weeks
The first day of online registration, May 9, drew more than 2,500 families to complete the process within the first 24 hours. Since then, the district has processed 80 percent of its enrollment, said Hilda Miranda, student systems coordinator for SISD’s Department of Technology Services.
Two elementary schools, James P. Butler and H.D. Hilley, already have completed the online registration process at 100 percent. The school administrators said doing so was a team effort.
“Everyone we talked to about online registration thought it was the way to go,” said Rosa Avedician-Chavez, principal at James P. Butler. “Our teachers contacted the parents and guided them through the process to make sure their child had a seat saved the following year. Our parents also were excited that they could get to register more than one child at a time.”
Other benefits of online registration include: allowing parents to easily verify student data, being able to update contact information, complete yearly required registration forms, and acknowledge/review critical district information and policies.
“Registering my son was very simple,” said Corina Fematt, a parent at Bill Sybert School. “The process was efficient and it saved me a lot of time. The campus staff also was very helpful.”
Parents of returning students who have not completed the online registration can do so with a valid email address and a Parent Portal account, which can be created at your student’s campus.
New students to SISD must register at their campus. For more information concerning online registration, contact your child’s campus.
