Socorro ISD preps for 2nd annual ‘Walk for Success’

Team SISD is conducting its second annual Walk for Success, a districtwide effort to recover students who have left school to re-enroll and graduate or return to earn their GED.

The Walk for Success day will be from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. This is when SISD administrators, principals, assistant principals and special guests will walk SISD neighborhoods to encourage students to come back to school.

In preparation for the Walk for Success, SISD administrators are having a call-out day on Saturday, Aug. 29 to reach out to students by phone. A phone bank will be set up in the district’s board room and a team of counselors and other district staff will call students to give them information on how to return to school and the assistance they will receive from SISD.

“Every student counts in Team SISD and we remain committed to go above and beyond to ensure all students in our community are earning the education they deserve.” said Dr. José Espinoza, SISD Superintendent.

Dr. Espinoza added, “We are proud to come together for another Walk for Success to find the students who have left and let them know that we are here to help them return to school and graduate. We are eager to welcome them back and assist them to successfully earn their diploma.”
