Socorro Independent School District leaders, principals, assistant principals and counselors will gather for the annual Walk for Success call-out event August 25.
Of the event, district officials say, “The event is the first phase of the Walk for Success annual outreach event that aims to recover students who have left school so they can re-enroll for an opportunity to graduate with a diploma or earn a GED.”
Team SISD counselors and administrators will personally call students, and/or their parents, who are not enrolled in school or left the district, to invite them back.
Students and their parents will receive information on how to re-enroll at school, how to get support to meet their educational needs, and the different options they have to graduate.
The 2018 Walk for Success event is scheduled from 8:30-11:30 a.m. September 8.
At the Walk for Success, more than 300 SISD administrators, counselors, board trustees, staff, and volunteers will go door-to-door in the district’s neighborhoods to personally reach out to students who are not enrolled in school and encourage them to come back.
Since the inception of Walk for Success in 2013, more than 40 students have graduated, and 200+ have re-enrolled in school to continue their education.
