Socorro ISD students, parents invited to virtual Preparing for College Forum

Socorro Independent School District officials are inviting high school students and their parents to attend the virtual Preparing for College Forum to learn about tools and resources they can use to prepare for post-secondary education.

The forum, set to run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20,  provides students with important information about the college application process and financial aid.

“#TeamSISD is dedicated to assuring all our students get the best start to life after high school,” said Tammi Mackeben, SISD director of school counseling.

“Applying for post-secondary education, to include two-year and four-year colleges and universities as well as technical schools and the military, can be a daunting task. The thought of how to pay for a postsecondary education can be stressful. Therefore, Team SISD provides the Preparing for College Forum so that we can assist parents and students through the process.”

Attendees will receive helpful tips on writing college essays, preparing for college interviews and more.

The SISD School Counseling Department also will host an upcoming special Military College Forum in the spring.
