Officials with the Socorro Independent School District (SISD) announced this week that they will be having a job shadowing event for eighth grade students.
“Job shadowing offers students a chance to investigate the world of work by spending time in the community and experiencing the culture of the workplace,” SISD officials said.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon on June 7, 8, 9, and 10.
Students will spend a few days observing, listening, and following an employee in a work place, called a mentor, as they go about their workday.
Students will gain awareness and understanding of daily duties, weekly expectations, and industry insights. The students will be given a chance to perform simple job duties and hands-on activities.
