For the 16th year in a row, The Southwest Administrative Professionals conference brought office staff together from across all industries for a full day of recognition, inspiration and networking with like-minded individuals.
Organizer and executive coach Aliana Apodaca said she developed this conference to show administrative professionals how valuable they are to a business and to help business owners recognize staff efforts.
“An administrative professional touches people that call your business by the tone of their voice, by the way they handle customers when they walk into the building,” she said. “If I’m an HR person, I may not have daily public contact but I have contact with employees. These individuals are the ones that provide the services that are so critical to the business.”
Every year Apodaca looks for speakers in various industries to cover a variety of topics and offers the same program on each day to allow businesses to send all their staff.
A bonus at the session is a mini massage.
This year’s speakers were Samuel Adams (journalist/author) who discussed laughter as good business and reinventing yourself; Betsy Allen-Manning (author) focused her session on life in the fast lane; Elizabeth Reveles (top communications manager with Verizon) shared communications skills and Aliana herself led a session on beliefs and their impact.
