Speaking Rock Cash Giveaway, Pregame Party Zone Returning for 2022 UTEP Football Season

The Speaking Rock Cash Giveaway is back for the 2022 UTEP football season, as well as the popular Speaking Rock Pregame Party Zone.

Once again, Speaking Rock will award one lucky fan $500 every time the Miners kick a field goal, and $1,000 every time they score a touchdown.  Winners will be determined by seat location, and must be present to receive the cash giveaway.

In addition, Speaking Rock has announced the lineup of bands in the Speaking Rock Pregame Party Zone for the first three UTEP football home games this fall.

Eve 6 will rock the Speaking Rock Pregame Party Zone for the Miners’ opener against North Texas on Aug. 27.  Alien Ant Farm will take the stage prior to UTEP’s game versus NM State (Sept. 10), and Lit will provide the entertainment in advance of the Miners’ matchup with Boise State (Sept. 23).

Eve 6 was formed in Southern California in 1995, and is best known for its hit singles “Inside Out,” “Leech,” “Here’s to the Night” and “Promise.”  Eve 6’s self-titled album reached platinum status in 1998, with “Inside Out” topping the Modern Rock chart and spending several weeks on MTV’s Total Request Live top-10.

Alien Ant Farm was formed in Riverside, Calif. in 1996, and has sold over five million albums worldwide.  Their most popular song was their cover of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal,” which moved to the top of the Modern Rock chart in 2001.  Their songs have also appeared on the soundtracks to the motion pictures American Pie 2 (2001) and Spider-Man (2002), as well as numerous video games.

Lit was formed in Orange County, Calif. in 1988.  They are best known for their 1999 album “A Place in the Sun,” which achieved platinum status.  The album spawned the hit single “My Own Worst Enemy,” which was number one on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart for 11 weeks and received a Billboard Music Award for the biggest modern rock song of 1999.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Speaking Rock Entertainment Center,” UTEP Director of Athletics Jim Senter said.  “They have truly been a difference maker, not just for UTEP Athletics, but in terms of dramatically enhancing the Miner football game day experience with the Speaking Rock Cash Giveaway and the Speaking Rock Pregame Party Zone.”

The Speaking Rock Pregame Party Zone made its debut in 2021.  Located in the northern portion of the GR2 parking lot next to the Larry K. Durham Sports Center, the Speaking Rock Pregame Party Zone provides fans with live music and entertainment, food and beverages for purchase, giveaways and more.  Admission is free to the Speaking Rock Pregame Party Zone, which opens three hours prior to kickoff at every Miner football home game.

The Miners will kick off the 2022 season at home against North Texas in the Conference USA opener on Aug. 27 at 7 pm.  Nearly 40,000 tickets have been issued for the game, as UTEP is trying to sell out a game in the Sun Bowl for the first time since 2008.  The Sun Bowl capacity is 45,971.  Fans can visit www.UTEPMiners.com/Tickets or call 747-UTEP to purchase tickets.
