State-Run Museums and Historic Sites to Close on Friday, October 23

The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) announced Tuesday afternoon that they will close its museums and historic sites to the public on Friday, October 23, until further notice.

“The fight against COVID-19 has become our state’s top priority,” said DCA Cabinet Secretary Debra Garcia y Griego.

“We are closing our facilities in response to new public health directives. The DCA is dedicated to sharing New Mexico’s rich and diverse cultural heritage and encourages the public to visit our wealth of online resources. We look forward to welcoming the public back when deemed prudent by public health officials.”

Officials added that the “safety and well-being of our employees and visitors is the DCA’s foremost concern. We appreciate the ongoing support and understanding of the public.”
