Overnight Closure for Streetcar Testing on South Kansas Set for Monday

Overnight testing for the El Paso Streetcar Project will take place on Kansas Street between Paisano Drive and Father Rahm Avenue beginning at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018.

To accommodate this work, Kansas Street will be closed to all traffic between Paisano Drive and Father Rahm Avenue beginning late Monday night.

Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue will be closed to all traffic at Kansas Street. On-street parking will be prohibited. All streets will re-open to traffic by 6am on Tuesday.

CRRMA officials say, “Before the Sun Metro begins operating the service for the public, the CRRMA must undertake a rigorous, months-long testing to ensure the system is safe. That means, you’ll see streetcars running along the line before you can get on board.”

Work is expected to be complete by 6am on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
