Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists will encounter several new closures next week as crews continue making significant progress on utility relocation work associated with the El Paso Streetcar project.
The Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority has announced that the following lane closures will be in place beginning on Sunday, February 21, 2016:
NEW Oregon Street from Arizona Avenue to River Avenue: Traffic will be intermittently reduced to one lane in each direction between Arizona Avenue and River Avenue. Occasional closures of east-west streets crossing Oregon will also be required.
The following street and lane closures will be in place beginning on Monday, February 22, 2016:
NEW Stanton Street from Arizona Avenue to Montana Avenue: Stanton Street will be closed to all traffic between Arizona Avenue and Montana Avenue for approximately six weeks. During that time, Arizona will be closed to all traffic at Stanton for about a week.
When work is completed at the Stanton/Arizona intersection, Arizona will re-open and Rio Grande will close at Stanton for approximately five weeks. Montana will remain open to east-west traffic during these closures.
NEW Santa Fe Street at Franklin Avenue: Southbound traffic on Santa Fe Street will be reduced to one lane at Franklin Avenue. Northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and detoured onto Main Street and El Paso Street. In the coming weeks, lane closure on Santa Fe will move to between Main Drive and San Antonio Avenue.
Oregon Street from Glory Road to University Avenue
Intermittent lane closures will resume along Oregon Street from Glory Road to University Avenue.
Kansas Street from Texas to San Antonio Avenue
Kansas Street remains closed from Texas Avenue to San Antonio Avenue. Closure of the Kansas/San Antonio and Kansas/Texas intersections will be required in the coming weeks.
Father Rahm Avenue from Santa Fe Street to Campbell Avenue
Father Rahm Avenue will remain closed to eastbound and westbound traffic from Santa Fe Street to Campbell Street. Occasional lane closures on north-south streets crossing Father Rahm will begin this week on Mesa Street at Father Rahm.
Overnight Lane Closures
Moving lane closures will take place throughout the 4.8-mile route during overnight hours beginning next week. Traffic will be able to flow around work zones. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution.
