Sun Metro is hiring; Public invited to Job Fair on September 9

Careers in public transit are waiting for job seekers who attend Sun Metro’s Job Fair coming up next week.

The fair is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Transit Operations Center (TOC), 10151 Montana Avenue.

“We encourage anyone looking to start a profession, change careers, or transition from an over-the-road job to a local driving opportunity to come out to our job fair and apply for the chance to join our Sun Metro team,” said Sun Metro Managing Director Ellen Smyth.

Transit officials add that they have a wide range of employment opportunities available to include transit operator, fleet technician, administrative and facility maintenance positions.

Job seekers, who are interested in applying for transit operator positions but don’t have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) are encouraged to apply for a transit operator trainee position. Sun Metro offers extensive paid on-the-job training to assist individuals with earning a CDL.

At the job fair, individuals will be able to apply for positions and obtain additional information about job openings and employment benefits. Some of the benefits include competitive pay, paid sick and vacation leave days, set work schedules, tuition reimbursement, health insurance options, wellness programs, and a pension plan.
