El Paso Independent School District Superintendent Juan Cabrera will be a featured speaker and panelist in next week’s SXSWedu conference, a gathering innovative educators in Austin.
“I’m thrilled to share our story with the rest of the country,” Cabrera said. “Our participation in the SXSWedu conference further promotes our stance as a leader in education innovation not just along the Border, but throughout the state and the country.”
The four-day conference will attract thousands of educators, policy makers and industry leaders from throughout the country to connect, collaborate and create innovative ways to improve quality teaching and learning.
SXSWedu is from March 7-10 at the Austin Convention Center and other sites around Cabrera will participate in two different sessions, both scheduled for Tuesday, March 8.
He will first act as a judge in a “Shark Tank” like panel of education experts that will determine whether a group of 10 different education entrepreneurs have what it takes to make their products successful.
Cabrera then will lead a panel titled “New Models in Instructional Content Sharing,” where he will speak about the use of digital textbooks and other digital instructional materials in EPISD through the PowerUp initiative.
